The Long Tail

One thing that I thought was interesting, as I sat programming and finishing up The Long Tail, was this quote that I heard on the audio book:
Ideas flow more freely, are honed more sharply, and can be put into practice more quickly when large numbers of innovators, implements and financial backers are in constant contact with one another both in and out of the office… The great cities of the world exist because of the cultural and economic advantages of being around lots of other people more than compensate for the costs of urban living.
This almost obvious statement by the author Chris Anderson just solidifies why the Start-up District has the goal of unifying the fragmented entrepreneurial scene here in Austin and continuing to make Austin a ‘great city.’
