OrgSync Checklist for Graduates
May 19 2011, 8:57am
Congratulations to the Class of 2011! You have all completed a chapter in your life I can guarantee you’ll never forget. Your accomplishments are well deserved, and we hope you’re taking this time to celebrate with everyone that got you to this moment. We know all of you have ambitious plans for the upcoming months and we wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors. Whether you’re furthering your education, looking for a job (PS OrgSync is hiring!) or starting your first job out of college, here is a quick checklist of items to quickly take care of concerning your OrgSync account. Sharpen ePortfolio Now that you have graduated, spend some time sharpening your ePortfolio so that a potential employer can get a comprehensive look at your accomplishments. OrgSync auto populates some of the fields when you first create your ePortfolio, but I encourage you to spend a couple of hours and refine each section to clearly explain your experiences. Think about what a potential employer or co-worker is looking for and understand that your ePortfolio is a representation of you, no one else. Here is some advice on how an ePortfolio can strengthen your job search and remember to attach a link to your ePortfolio to your Resume and Cover Letter.
Request a copy of your Co-Curricular Transcript If you haven’t done so already, request an official university copy of your Co-Curricular Transcript. Your CCT will be proof of all your involvement, service hours, leadership roles and everything you did outside of class. It also serves as a reminder of all your significant co-curricular activities as you prepare for interviews. If you are unable to request a CCT, you may still export your Co-Curricular Record or Full Involvement history from your My Involvement manager anytime.
Update Notification Settings One of the most common requests we get from students is turning off emails and other messages from their organizations after they graduate. This is perfectly understandable considering many students don’t need to be active in their organizations on a daily basis after they graduate. Simply go to Notification Settings under My Account to update what notifications and messages you will receive in the future. You may also leave an organization after graduation if you no longer associate yourself with it.
Update Account Group Since you are no longer an active member of your organization, but would still like to be kept in the loop on future alumni events and newsletters, you need to contact your organization administrator so they can change your account group to “Alumni.” This will allow your organization to add you to an Alumni list and send you targeted information and event invites when the time comes. Many organizations use the communication tools to keep in touch with alumni after graduation and leverage their alumni network for donations, job opportunities, and future guest speakers.
We also want to remind you that OrgSync will never delete your account from our system unless you ask us to. Your account will be in our system as long as your campus is associated with OrgSync. Before you adventure off and carve your own paths and futures we highly encourage you use this checklist as you graduate so your OrgSync account is up-to-date. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions or contact us directly.
