September 19 2011, 2:08pm
The University of Arizona, one of our flagship campus partners, has announced a new initiative available to college students across the nation, The National Collegiate Leadership Association (NCLA). NCLA offers a low-cost way to connect student leaders from across the nation and online leadership education opportunities. The goal of NCLA is to engage student leaders from across the country, provide a forum for student learning and serve as a resource for student leadership. What is NCLA? The National Collegiate Leadership Association is an organization for any college student interested in leadership development. Membership benefits include:
Monthly webinars focused on particular leadership topics Monthly Leaders Live! sessions with community leaders Access to an ePortfolio Online topical discussions Best practices sharing Discounted rate for the National Collegiate Leadership Conference
What makes NCLA unique? Unlike other leadership experiences, NCLA focuses on leadership competencies that are applicable in any context and any position. Whether students are in student government, residence hall associations, student clubs, sororities or fraternities, athletics, employment, or none of the above, NCLA provides a great way to develop leadership skills they can use in any involvement role, their academics, and in their future career fields. NCLA allows members to interact with each other so that they can connect and collaborate across campus boundaries and geographical distances. Members can also apply for leadership positions within the association, like the student advisory board and the publications team, giving them experience working with virtual teams. How much does NCLA cost? Annual membership is only $15, and includes all NCLA online programs and benefits. No additional charges for webinars or ePortfolio use. It’s all a part of the package! How do I join? More information and the membership application can be found at http://www.nclalead.org. Questions can be directed to nclalead@gmail.com or 520-626-1572. Our Founder & CEO, Eric Fortenberry, will be leading one of the first Leaders Live webinar series on Thursday, October 6th at 1:00 PM MST so please be sure to tune in and get a taste of what NCLA is all about. Please send this blog post along to anyone you know that may be interested in joining NCLA. We appreciate your support to help NCLA grow and develop tomorrow’s leaders.
