Technology: Keeping Up with the Changing Times

December 2 2010, 4:05pm

As I reflect on a time of exciting change in my life: surpassing another milestone birthday, getting engaged, and starting a new job. I find myself carefully reflecting on each and every change. Whether it is the development of an individual along the journey of personal development or the growth of a culture, each of us encounters change.
As mentioned in one of my favorite student staff training books, Who Moved My Cheese?, by Spencer Johnson, there are multiple different approaches to change represented by each character in the book. Personalities such as Sniff, Scurry, Hem and Haw can be found all around us, even in your own office!! As illustrated by Johnson, success and happiness are most apparent after one has gone through the maze of life and encountered countless changes.
My new position at OrgSync, has given me the opportunity to see the passion and efforts of Club Sport directors and Student Affair administrators across the country in a different light. One of the biggest changes for me has been the rapid advancement of technology at OrgSync. Both environments work constantly to meet the changing needs of the diverse student population of today as well as future students. Within higher education, both students and the world around us are constantly moving at warp speed. As these changes continue to happen, rather than pressing the brakes with bureaucracy and politics we need to be ones helping steer the wheel toward student growth. Preparing students to become productive citizens, as we all know does not all happen inside the classroom, but through multiple outlets throughout their college experience, including the recreation centers! This simple statement has been redundant throughout my education and time as an administrator. The relief I felt when discovering OrgSync’s comprehensive platform is unbelievable. Not only, as a tool to ease the efforts of thousands of active administrators and students, but as a validation of student learning outside the classroom. As I look at the next thirty years, I anticipate my new engagement bringing success and happiness as we begin the next stage of our lives together. I also foresee that the evolving changes of technology to bring the same prosperity to higher education and the modern day students. Here at OrgSync, we are working to understand how to best serve Club Sport programs over the course of the spring semester. We would love to hear your thoughts on our upcoming initiatives as well as additional development ideas tailored to Club Sports.
