Like most of you guys, I love my smartphone. It’s the first and last thing I see everyday. A portal to the world in a tiny screen, a flashlight , a task manager, a time waster and a mobile desktop. Recently, I forgot my iPhone at home and it was like I left my head on the kitchen table. All day I kept reaching for my little, rectangular communication tool. As my co-workers checked their screens, I found myself constantly checking my right palm, pretending to read a widescreen display of my Twitter feed. I’ve heard how people suffer from phantom limb…. I believe it!And why shouldn’t I feel so lost without it? We all spend a ton of our time looking at our little screens. In fact, below is a great chart that shows some interesting data from Nielsen Ratings. In a nutshell, nearly half of our time on our mobile devices is spent interacting with…Drumroll please…. EMAIL.
