Numbers Show Average of 60 Apps per iDevice

According to MobileOrchard, an avergae of 60 apps are downloaded for every device sold. Think about that for a second: for every iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, 60 apps are downloaded. To put things in perspective, compare those numbers to attach rates for the major game consoles (Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii). All of them are well under ten games per console, and the number has only risen a little over the past few years. Apple i-Devices have almost six times the apps as an Xbox 360 has games. That’s incredible! Consider the fact that apps have broader uses than just games. That means that handheld owners are using apps for an incredibly broad spectrum of functions. The numbers are even more impressive given that the App Store didn’t even exist until 2008. Also, considering that more than 3% of all games on the App Store are made with GameSalad, it means it’s likely that many of those apps sport a Bowl Boy somewhere!
