Promoting Your Games: Striking While The Iron Is Hot–But When Is It Hot?

When we make apps and games, we want the fruits of our labors to be as successful as possible. One of the most important elements of this is public relations and the creation of buzz about your app. You can have the MOST AWESOME, BEST DESIGNED app in the history of apps, but if you can’t get eyes on it, no one will know. But when to start? How to you do it? What is the best investment of your time? Over on MobileOrchard.com, Matthew Palmer has put together this handy guide with tips for how to make sure your app skyrockets from the word “go.” My favorite suggestion on his list? Start early. Tell your friends you’ve got an app coming out soon. Tell your Facebook followers. Tell your Tumblr, your LiveJournal, and your Twitter feed. Get the word out early so that when you get that confirmation from Apple, you’re telling a lot of people “IT’S HERE!” Being one’s own self-promoter is an important skill to learn. Luckily, it’s also not rocket surgery!
