Client Services Update – February 2011

It’s great to be back in the office after a couple of weeks on the training circuit with stops at Texas A&M Commerce, NYIT Old Westbury, NYIT Manhattan, UNC Charlotte, and North Carolina A&T. My tour of North Carolina began with a quick meeting at the University of North Carolina @ Charlotte where we work exclusively with the Center for Off Campus and Volunteer Outreach. The visit allowed me to tag team a presentation with OrgSync’s Senior VP of Business Development, Cayce Stone, to discuss expanding the use of OrgSync to all other areas of campus, including the Dean of Students’ internal office operations. Next was North Carolina A&T where I received more southern hospitality than I, a girl from Southeast Texas, have ever experienced. NCAT has been with OrgSync since our very early days and has used OrgSync almost exclusively for the tracking of volunteer hours for their graduation requirements. Lee Morgan oversees that process and his suggestions/requests have led to many great tweaks to timesheets and people management in OrgSync, such as the search features and pagination. This year, a new focus was placed on utilizing OrgSync for all organization management, and with that new focus NCAT is planning for several new technical integrations with OrgSync to register all 200 of their student organizations this Spring. I will be visiting NCAT again in April to train all the organization leaders during their annual leadership retreat. Lastly, look for a completely revamped Student Development website, coming later this year, as OrgSync will be hosting not only the departmental website, complete with organization directory and event calendar, but also websites for every student organization. I am thrilled to see all of the new developments with this campus. It is a testament not only to the OrgSync staff for going above and beyond over the years to accommodate their needs and adapt with them, but also how a dedicated group of higher education professionals (shout out to Shauna, Lee, Ferreli, and Denise) is truly going to make an impact on the university and their student population. Finally, I visited both of the New York Institute of Technology’s campuses (Old Westbury and Manhattan) for their annual student leader training. This was my second visit to each campus and the staff at NYIT are truly some of my favorite folks to work with. Two highlights of those trips are: meeting Manhattan student, Ty Eiland (see video below), who I learned is the youngest person to ever run for Mayor of New York City, and second, all the great “swag” I received from each campus. In case you are wondering… swag as defined by Urban Dictionary: Promotional merchandise for a band, record label, or other entity in the music business, usually distributed at concerts. *See picture with me and the NYIT Manhattan organization leaders with my new pink NYIT ball cap J.
