At Marymount College Things are finally starting to slow down after a two-week tour of Southern California. This was my first time visiting the Sunshine State, so I was excited to see the coast and work with some of my favorite Campus Partners. During my visit I traveled to 9 campuses in the Los Angeles and San Diego area. I began my tour at California State University San Bernardino where I finally met OrgSync Rockstar Mark Hartley! Mark has been a part of the OrgSync Family since early 2008 and is an amazing evangelist on our behalf. Over the years, he has fielded many referral calls from interested campuses and spread the word about the benefits of using OrgSync. Fortunate for us, CSUSB just renewed their contract so we will proudly continue our partnership for another two and a half years. After two days in San Bernardino I packed my bags and headed to Riverside, CA to visit La Sierra University. There, I met the fabulous Kim Canine. She explained all the creative ways her campus is using OrgSync, their vision for the future, and techniques for marketing. La Sierra has only been a Campus Partner for a short time, but their ingenuity and enthusiasm has shown that they are well on their way to becoming OrgSync pros! (To read more on Kim and La Sierra see Campus Spotlight) I then traveled to Claremont, CA where I met with representatives from the Claremont College Consortium to provide an overview of OrgSync and its campus solutions. The attendees hailed from 5 different colleges and were gracious enough to convene at Claremont McKenna College for my presentation. It was exciting for me to work with prospective campuses and hear the unique needs of the Consortium schools. Me and Rosio Becerra from Long Beach City College Next I headed to Long Beach, CA to work with Long Beach City College and neighboring California State University Dominguez Hills. I led administrator trainings and several student trainings on both campuses. Both campuses have been with OrgSync for over a year, so many students were already familiar with the system. However, I was able to educate them on some of newest updates and explain the My Involvement enhancements. My next stop was to Marymount College in Racho Palos Verdes, CA. The first thing I noticed about Marymount was the amazing scenery. Just stepping out of the parking lot I was greeted with a hilltop view of the Pacific Ocean! Considering the incredible landscape and close knit campus community, I could certainly see the charm of attending Marymount. While there, I met with several administrators, Residence Life, and led sessions for student leaders. I ended my journey at California State San Marcos near San Diego, CA. They are another campus that has been with the OrgSync Family for several years, though this was their first on-site training. During my two-day visit I presented an overview of the system to their Associated Students and to their Greek organizations. I also led a training for student leaders and was able to attend their Organization Fair. There, I got to mingle with CSUSM students, ask them questions, and hear any feedback they had. It was nice getting to interact with students in a more casual setting. I am happy to report that my first trip to Southern California was an amazing experience. I led a lot of trainings and drove many miles, but I think the session attendees gained valuable information and became more knowledgeable. I am excited to have met so many of our Campus Partners and I can’t wait to get back to the sunny California weather in the future!
