A Week to Honor our Volunteers
April 14 2011, 11:03am
This week, OrgSync would like to thank and acknowledge the millions of volunteers that give their time to help causes that are effecting our every day lives and helping those in need, all around the nation, during National Volunteer Week. For those unfamiliar, April 10th to the 16th is National Volunteer Week hosted by the HandsOn Network, which is the nation’s largest volunteer network. OrgSync has always had a strong commitment in supporting a variety of causes and have encouraged our campus partners to get their students civically engaged in their community. Our commitment to the out of classroom activities, organization, and getting students involved has always been the cornerstone of our company and we continue to partner with those who share our commitment. In light of this week and what it represents, we wanted to share with you our new developmental project expected to be released this summer, the Service Management System. The inspiration behind this new system stems from our understanding of the importance of student involvement in the community and leveraging technology to efficiently mobilize volunteers. The Service Management System is a robust extension to the core OrgSync platform and will enable students to connect with service opportunities in their community and across the nation. The system empowers students to discover service opportunities in their community while allowing campus administrators to track student volunteer hours, distribute credit and connect with service partners in their community. The system will be compromised of eight core features, which create a comprehensive solution that will improve volunteer and service initiatives on campuses and across the nation. The following eight components will make up the Service Management System:
Volunteer Management Partner Management Involvement Tracking Events & Opportunities Communication Customization Options Service Awards & Certificates Reports & Assesment
Additionally, we’d like to acknowledge one of our campus partners and their volunteer efforts. Georgia College, an OrgSync client since 2008, has a very active base of student volunteers and is home to the GIVE Center. Tom Miles, the Director of Campus Life at Georgia College, and Kendall Stiles, founder of the GIVE Center, have dedicated much of their lives to service and building programs that get students involved in the community and help them learn from their experiences. The Give Center empowers students to make a difference by linking them to the needs of their community. In 2010 alone, the center facilitated 75,000 volunteer hours by 2,200 students, which equates to approximately $1.7 million of value added to the community. If you’d like to learn more about our Service Management System, feel free to contact us anytime. We’re very excited to be developing a service platform and our goal is to build a system that makes it easier to find service opportunities and get involved. Again, we thank each and every volunteer for his or her hard work and dedication. OrgSync appreciates everything you do.
