Easiest way to show your support: Create an account and leave a comment below! We're trying to get a bunch of quotes, so it'd be awesome if you wrote a little one-liner.

Join the hunt for space!
Conjunctured is looking for a little spot for the coworking space and there are a few others who want to office either right next to us or with us. Let us know if you would be interested in the same. Even if we just have 5 startups in vicinity, I'd say that was pretty legit.

Our Vision of an Emerald City
-Neville- JobSt... — Wed, 06/18/2008 - 17:54Vision 1.x of an EMERALD CITY
==========================
I have a perspective and a vision of the greater Austin area that has been shaped by being a resident over a 33 year period. My perspective has also been shaped by how I have chosen define and express my life as an: artist, poet, entrepreneur, business consultant, technologist, father, and active community participant.
The geographical area defined by the term "greater Austin area" is a confluence of topography, climate zones, cultures, artistic expression, organizational models, industries, and ideologies. It has a history characterized by rapid urbanization and yet has sustained a high degree of expressed individualism by its residents. It is a place of tremendous untapped possibility and potential.
Over the years, I have heard Austin described by: "high quality of life"; "keep Austin weird"; "technolopolis"; "entrepreneur friendly"; "highly educated population"; "one of the most wired cities"; "youthful population" and more.
It is my desire to contribute to manifesting greater Austin area as an Emerald City where all its citizens enjoy an ecosystem that fosters: economic equality, individualistic and artistic expression, innovation, cultural diversity, ideological diversity, communities of affinity, green technologies, humane architecture, and a love of the natural world.
Herein our geographical zone lies a meta possibility. It is the real possibility of manifesting a sustainable and vital ecosystem of humans, nature, culture, and industry. It is the possibility of a joyful place where the pursuit of happiness is available to everyone.
What is your vision?

Interesting Idea
Dbryanjones — Mon, 05/19/2008 - 15:58Interesting concept - will be excited to see what comes of it. Not sure that a startup district has ever been planned, so you may be creating a new paradigm for the way that the locale of entrepreneurship in a city is created. Will be glad to help out!
Yes
Colin — Mon, 05/19/2008 - 16:30I've been told it was attempted before but I think they were ahead of their time, or not well promoted. The generation that grew up on the internet is maturing (easier to find each other) and Austin is growing in size substantially.
Love it! Startup District to
